44

Wachaaa - that one's done.

We're nearing the end of the series now so the next two and a half volumes cover the whole of the final showdown. It's classic jojo so they make peace and end all rivalries calmly, might still be worth reading though.

Within a few more months we'll get 45 out, and then 46&47 a week after that. No idea about exact timing so don't ask.

  8. I can't wait any longer, but I can't get through Duwang.

Can you share the Raws you're using for volumes 45~47? The ones everyone seems to have are very hard to read in Japanese due to low quality.

    1. Yeah sure, they won't be the easiest to read cause of their massive page size but here you go:

Duwang's obviously the better version though so just boss it and make your way through. It's pretty much required reading at this point.

    2. I think the 46 link has 47 raws in there too btw.

    3. Thanks a bunch!

I'll probably read Duwang after I'm done with the raws, it's just that I'd rather not get distracted by it when reading the end of my favorite part so far.

    4. Ah sorry, just checked and 47 isn't part of the latter link which means - we don't have them. I'll post here as soon as they're available.

    5. I managed the last three chapters that are in volume 47 with the old raws. Better raws are still welcome, but I don't mind waiting for your translation now.

Thanks again for sharing them, it was an enjoyable read.

I've started getting dmca notices so everything's going on mega from now on. It's dead weird cause they only seem to bother taking down individual files for now.

    1. I'm not in close contact with them but it's my understanding that Shizuka Joestar's remake of part 5 currently doesn't have a translator. So if they want my help that might be a thing. Aside from that I'd like to maybe do Tenchi wo Kurau, maybe some older shoujo titles, I don't really know.

I'm open to suggestions/requests for works to translate, and once I figure out a solution for accepting money, commissions for doujinshi translations.

    2. Any chance you'd be interested in translating some novels? There's some that I've been trying to find a translator to tackle for some time now, and I have the raw text and everything.

    3. Sent me an email or IM about what you were thinking, decoplusboco on gmail or 6243605 on icq/aim. Novels have a lot of text, just so you know.

  10. Would it be possible to get ahold of ALL of the raws that you guys used for part IV? I know that many of them are better than the generic ones found online.

    1. Yeah sure, I've lent my external hard-drive to a colleague for now though so I'll have to get that back first to upload the raws. Will post them straight here.

    3. Alright check in here: https://www.mediafire.com/jojopartiv

I've added a folder for all the raws still around. Unfortunately it's not complete but literally all of the old links have died so it's probably the best you'll get.

The layout looks a bit like this if it helps

I was curious if you guys were made aware of the fact that somebody uploaded the entire part of Diamond is Unbreakable into colored scans that were made available for phones at some point for purchase. Not really sure if you guys have any use for these, but I thought it couldn't hurt to show you guys.

Also can you link me to a coloured version of Hokuto no ken?

    Thanks.

    1. Scripts for the rest of the part are done. 45 is currently being typeset, still needs some redraws and touch-ups in the art, and after typesetting needs to go through QC. 46 and 47 are almost done being cleaned / prepared for text insertion. We'd like to release as much of the last part at once as possible, but if we finish 45 and it looks like 46/7 will still be a while we'll release it separately.

So, probably not this month (or at least not in the next 2 weeks) barring a miracle, but I wouldn't be surprised if we released 45 through the end in April.

  16. Someone managed to buy and rip the colored volumes for Parts 1-7: http://pastebin.com/5qZJfZBH Hopefully this will help you guys out :)

    1. Yeah cheers I've seen, we chipped in to buy them too. I think me and boco still prefer the original black and white scans but these seem really easy to clean, and not too bad on the redraw, so I might get 29 out sometime with full-on colour just to polish off the start a bit.

I kinda wonder how many people they had colouring it all in cause it must've taken about as much time to crayon in than it took for araki to scatch out.

    1. Erm, it's progressing... I'm taking a break from HWMN soon so should scrape more time on my side at least. It's so hard squeezing in the time recently! I can't do the kewl thing and just abandon sleep for it.

  21. Guys, any updates on the 45? We're starting May, already. I really enjoy reading your version, also, my gf is really waiting to know how this part ends (she didn't read the duwang version). Keep the great work you're doing. Regards.

    1. I had to take a month off to deal with some stuff, sorry. 45 should be out of typesetting today or tomorrow, then it needs to go through QC. Our original plan was to release 45 through the end all at once but we might put up 45 before finishing the rest just because it's been so long.

    2. Ok, no worries. Thanks for the answer. We'll be waiting.

  22. hi there guys
thank you for your hard work :)! you've chose a really good manga to translate!
I'm so Hyped for vol.45 ! so I'd like to ask when are you going to release it ?
    you have my thanks!

  23. Thanks a ton for your hard work guys! Take all the time you need, all we readers are doing is sitting on our asses so the least we can do is be patient. I think you scnlaters don't get enough credit, since its actually a tough process and takes a lot of work and time out of your guys's own lives. Anyways, computers broken and im posting off a tablet, but do you guys have anywhere I can donate? I may be able too later this month.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. We don't take donations (there're no hosting fees or extra volumes that we need anyway) but boco often commissions for translations if you ever need one. I'd totally recommend her.

    2. Ahhh I see, thanks a ton man, and quick question, Is duwang worth reading? Your scans are so amazing and I dont want to miss anything but I made a goal to finish part four this month and im nearing the end of your scans. just wanna know if duwang takes to much away from it? also will it take any emotion away? I actually teared up when shizaaaaaa died and when abdul and iggy did. I did get a little sad when shiegechi {probably spelled wrong } died but did not tear up, but assuming no one is off limits I dont want someone dieing near the end and me not feeling emotion due to crappy scans. XD sorry for going on a rant.

    3. Yeah it's great, you just have to expect it to have a whole different personality. It's like a much more happy-go-lucky take on the part and even when you've read 10 volumes and think you're over the quirky script, something'll still stick out and make you laugh. I'm almost kind of sad to be redoing the whole thing cause I know that loads of fans still prefer it - it's just got a special part in english jojo history I guess and just added to jojo in the way that all great fan additions do.

But the new script is really special too and I'm gonna be really happy to see it all completed, the ending especially cause it's gonna be great to put it out with the same building, brooding feel that it had originally. I completely loved the new badass feel of the hunting arc from before too, it had all those elements of vulnerability, risk and aggression that make jojo so great; I swear more works need to actually pick up on this and show more flaws in their characters.

So, considering that we might be a while still in reaching the end, I guess I'd say just to go through duwang and then come back later and see what you think of the rewrites. It's a bit like asking whether to read the book or go see the film first - they'll both give initial impressions that might just change later - but that's just life. I wrote earlier that it'd be worth waiting but screw it. Oh definitely read it all in order too, you get so much more from it.

  24. Thanks! I just finished the part with the guy living on the tower. I think there is like two volumes of you guys left to read, afterwards ill duwang it up. I will be reading the final volumes twice since ive decided ill come back after and reread them once you guys are done. :]

  25. Hi; I think I got 2 versions of Volume 29 from your group of scanlators (I think). One version had Josuke's mom named "Panko" and used the Duwang reference "don't feel so good" when Koichi saw Josuke's hair get insulted by Robber #B, but the other version used the normal translation. I was wondering; do you guys do 2 separate scanlation with 1 Duwang reference and the actual scanlation and have 1 with normal translation?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Apart from 39 which we have a separate duwang mode of, there's only one version of each volume. I just went back and cheekily added the edits when I joined so all the links here, on the forums and batoto should be up-to-date; mangatraders and other dl links might be different but only a tiny bit.
